The Lit Fest was founded in 1985 to attract visitors to the Printers Row neighborhood (once the city's bookmaking hub). It attracts over 200 booksellers from across the county and features over 200 authors participating in panels, discussions, and other programs. It's the largest free outdoor literary event in the Midwest. The line-up of featured authors continues to grow.
