Why not download a memoir in May?

So, I like to read funny, cheeky, and sometimes serious memoirs and musings by celebrities and others. I just finished listening to Mindy Kaling's, Why Not Me. She is the narrator, so it seemed even more personal and intimate. While listening I realized, it is okay to not have everything figured out in life. Like Mindy, we are always learning and evolving, or at least we should be. Download one or two today.

This morning I took the dog for an abbreviated walk as I opted to sleep in a bit more. Wow, was it cold, after such a warm December, it was a cold reminder of what winter in Chicago is typically like, frigid and the skies gray and almost unfriendly. • At the Mountains of Madness by H. P. Lovecraft: This classic Lovecraft novella follows an expedition to the Antarctic and the chilling discoveries they make there. It's not as interstellar as the Alien franchise but the scares are just as cosmic. 
• The Manitou by Graham Masterton: Karen Tandy discovers a mysterious lump growing under her skin that baffles all of her doctors. This chilling piece of body horror was the debut novel of eminent horror novelist Masterton.

• Aliens: Hoopla has more than enough Alien comics to keep you busy for a long time. A great way to dive into the extra mythology of this popular franchise.

Wilco, the local band

Want to get to know Wilco? The alternative rock band, from sweet-home Chicago, just wrapped up a four-night gig at the Chicago Theater. The Chicago Theater is one of my favorite venues. I love the vintage feel and there really isn't a bad seat in the house, plus I love going downtown. If you are a fan or want to get to know them better, check out what we have. FREE Audiobooks for Teens from SYNC!

SYNC is a free summer audiobook program for teens. Starting May 5th 2016, SYNC will give away two complete audiobook downloads per week--pairs of high interest titles, based on weekly themes.

The program runs for 15 weeks, from May 5th to August 17th and the audiobooks will change each week. The first week's free downloads are Vivian Apple at the End of the World by Katie Coyle and The Great Tennessee Monkey Trial by Peter Goodchild.

The schedule for the entire summer is here. Each pair of titles will be available for download for 1 week only, but after you have downloaded the titles, they will remain on your device until you delete them.
